Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When is the best time to obtain 3D or 4D Live Ultrasound?
A: Although an ultrasound can be obtained at any time during pregnancy, the optimal time to have a 3D or 4D Live Ultrasound is between 28 and 32 weeks.

Q: What is Real-Time 4D Live Imaging?
A: Real-Time 4D Live Imaging is the continuous three-dimensional scanning of the baby with a simultaneous visualization of the A, B, and C planes. 4th dimension is of Real Time so that you can see your baby moving in 3D.

Q: Will I always get a beautiful picture of my baby?
A: Usually, but not always. Sometimes if the baby is persistently looking face down, i.e. towards your spine, it may be difficult to see the baby’s face. If this happens, a repeat scan will usually succeed because the baby will have turned to a favorable position. We make no promises that the images will be similar to those you might have seen elsewhere or even from our office, or that we can always meet everyone’s expectations. Every baby scans differently, depending on its gestational age, position, amount of fluid, and mother’s condition. We promise to make every effort to obtain the best possible images of whatever parts of the baby that can be seen.
Q: Does it cost extra for twins or multiples?
A: NO. There is no extra cost for twins or multiples. We do recommend that you schedule your appointment between the 24th and 30th week of pregnancy, as the babies tend to have more room to move and interact with us and each other.
Q: Is the 3D/4D ultrasound covered by Insurance?
A: At this point, insurance does not cover the costs of our ultrasounds. Since this is an elective procedure and is not intended to be a replacement for your doctor ordered ultrasound, you will need to pay the cost of the ultrasound as an out of pocket expense. We accept cash, Visa, MasterCard, AMEX, Discover and debit cards.
